"The Captain" Jason Varitek next manager of the Red Sox
Rumors are starting to swirl that Varitek will be the next manager of the Red Sox not necessarily next year but in a year or two while he sits behind possibly Joe Torre as bench coach or even pitching Coach. Yes that Joe Torre the former manager of the Evil Empire himself. I would love to see Tek be the next manager of the Red Sox it would truly be full cirlce for possibly the heart and soul of the Red Sox for the last 13 years.

The Biggest Power Couple expecting their first Child
After performing at the 2011 VMAs, Beyoncé Knowles unbuttoned her sparkly jacket and rubbed her belly -- announcing her pregnancy to the world. The camera then cut to Jay-Z and Kanye West in the audience and their over-the-top jubilant reaction. It's about time these two got pregnant. This kid will be the talk of the country for the next 9 months. When you have the most popular singer and probably the most iconic rapper of this generation as parents. What is missing? Nothing!
Married to Jay for three years, the star has said time and time again that she planned on having a baby by the time she was 30; well, B turns 30 early next month.
The power couple tied the knot back in 2008 in a private ceremony at Jay-Z's New York apartment, and since then, there have been years of pregnancy rumors that they've shot down.
In June, the singer told CNN interviewer Piers Morgan that she wanted to get pregnant.
"I feel like a woman. I feel like I'm very aware of who I am. I feel great and I feel like 30 is the ideal age [to start a family], because you're mature enough to know who you are and to have your boundaries and your standards, and not be afraid, too polite -- but you're young enough to be a young woman," she said. "I'm so looking forward to it."
The singer added, "I always said I'd have a baby at 30. But I also said I'm going to retire at 30. ... Only God knows."
In that same interview, Beyoncé, who is performing at the MTV Video Music Awards, talked about her husband.
"Jay and I have kind of made a decision that we want to be known for our music and not our relationships or scandals. But he is amazing," she said. "I definitely had a very natural friendship and connection with him. We've been together for a very long time and I'm very happy. Love is the foundation of everything, everything I do. My music is inspired by love -- from my family, my husband, my sister."
No word on when the baby is due.

2011 Fantasy Football Preview:Team Defense
I sometimes forget how important a fantasy D/ST unit can be to winning a fantasy game each week. I get so caught up with who to start/sit at the QB, RB, WR, and TE positions that I end up not even thinking twice about my D/ST for that week.Even with as important as a D/ST unit is to winning fantasy games, it's important not to draft them too high in drafts. It never fails - the top rated D/ST unit will fly off the board in round 8 or round 9, and somewhere within the season it ends up costing that owner. Don't be that guy.On to the rankings.
- Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST - With a Hall of Fame defensive coordinator like Dick LeBeau calling the shots, they'll be a top 3 fantasy defense all day long and twice on Sundays.
- Green Bay Packers D/ST - Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Clay Matthews, A.J. Hawk, B.J. Raji..should I keep going? Ok, Nick Collins, Desmond Bishop.
- Philadelphia Eagles D/ST - The Eagles are beefing up their defense all over the place. Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins and Nnamdi Asomugha are all in Philly now. Damn.
- New York Jets D/ST - Last year was a bit of a disappointment for this Jets unit, yet they still finished as the #5 scoring defense. Rex Ryan won't allow them to suck.
- Baltimore Ravens D/ST - Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are cornerstones, yet aging. Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata make enough plays to keep this unit starting fantasy material.
- Chicago Bears D/ST - This Bears D/ST lead the team to a division title and on into the NFC Championship game. Julius Peppers, Brian Urlacher and company flat out get after it.
- New England Patriots D/ST - Who was fantasy football's #2 scoring defense last season? The Patriots were. It sure is nice to play the Bills and Dolphins each twice a year.
- New York Giants D/ST - Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyora absolutely wreak havoc on quarterbacks. 23 sacks and 16 forced fumbles just between the two of them in 2010.
- San Diego Chargers D/ST - Bob Sanders adds more punch to this Chargers defense. He'll get hurt, but with or without him this defense is capable of nice fantasy numbers
- New Orleans Saints D/ST - Aubrayo Franklin and Shaun Rogers are run stuffers and they addressed their biggest need with standout pass rusher Cameron Jordan in the draft.
- Detroit Lions D/ST - Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley, Louis Delmas and Alphonso Smith have the Motor City excited about this defense. Fantasy footballers need to take notice.
- Atlanta Falcons D/ST - Adding fellow pass rusher Ray Edwards to a line that already includes John Abraham has this unit climbing the rankings. They'll get after the QB.
- Dallas Cowboys D/ST - DeMarcus Ware is a one man wrecking crew. Outside of him, nothing really excites me about this squad. They'll be over-drafted again this fall.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST - Tampa went defense with their first three selections of the draft. Adrian Clayborn and Da'Quan Bowers can both make noise as rookies.
- San Francisco 49ers D/ST - There's a ton of talent up and down this defensive roster. Patrick Willis is a bona fide star. They have a weak division of opponents, too.

Where is Henry Rowengartner when you need him
Santiago Casilla you serious you can't stand up to the plate and face the heat. Come on man. Suck it up and get in the box.
TJ Who's your Momma and Darren Sharper to the Patriots?
NFL.com -The Patriots will work out a pair of NFL veterans this week.Yes two more veterans to add to the mix of winning a 4th Super Bowl but these two players are way past their prime even if we do end up signing either one of them. I think these moves are just scare tactics Belichick is using to make current players feel the pressure to contribute or else.
Free-agents T.J. Houshmandzadeh, a wide receiver, and Darren Sharper, a safety, will visit New England.
Houshmandzadeh starred alongside Chad Ochocinco in Cincinnati before disappointing runs with Seattle and Baltimore.
Sharper has 63 interceptions and 11 touchdowns in his career. He has made five Pro Bowls, but he also had knee surgery in 2010.
