Garrett Wittels FIU Accused Rapist cleared to play

Florida International says shortstop Garrett Wittels will be allowed to continue chasing the NCAA all-time hitting streak record this weekend, despite unresolved legal issues stemming from a rape charge in the Bahamas late last year.
FIU made the announcement Wednesday afternoon shortly before Wittels held a news conference in Miami, where the Panthers will play Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night. The Washington Post
I could see this coming from a mile away that they would let him play during the investigation. If your FIU wouldn't you want the all time hitting streak at your university. He enters the season with a 56 game hitting streak just two away from tying Robin Venturas D1 mark of 58 back in 1987. Don't get me wrong Wittels is a heck of a hitter but there is no way he should be allowed to play right now with all this rap charges over his head. This is basically telling everyone in world of sports if you rape someone you can still play until it goes away.
